Fog Eel will not bite on a worm

This is the whole answer, and it is why “Fog Eel nowhere” keeps showing up in the Steam discussions. Bait determines the catch table for a body of water. Standing at the Lakefront cycling worms produces Ghost Flounder and Rock-Dweller all day and never a Fog Eel, because Fog Eel is on the Leech table.

Where to get leeches

Leeches are fishing bait in their own right, and they come from three places:

• A mid die roll (4-5) on a Tier 1 Bait Pack.
• Foraging in the Mall Mine.
• A gift from Sam when she is at the Lakefront.

That last one is the fastest early source, and it is also a reminder that talking to residents on their routes has mechanical payoffs — Sam’s schedule is on the villagers page.

What to do with it

Fog Eel is a cooking ingredient, so it feeds the recipe chain on the cooking page rather than being a straight sell. As a gift it sits in the neutral column for the residents documented so far, which means it raises hearts slowly — save the loved items for that (see the gift guide).
