Welcome to Elderfield Demo: Saves, Length and What's In It
Answers straight from the developer
| Question | Developer answer |
|---|---|
| Does the demo save carry over? | Yes — "The demo save will carry over automatically." |
| What will it cost? | Not announced, but "it is under 20 USD." |
| Does the game end? | No. There is a main task-line ending in a final boss fight; after that farming, exploring, townsfolk and side content continue, with more content planned post-launch. |
These are quoted from the developer's own replies in the Steam discussions, not from press coverage. Anything else about the launch build — total task count, endgame content, price to the cent — is not confirmed yet.
What the demo includes
The demo covers the opening of the game: clearing the tentacles off your farm, the first crops and tools, the town and its residents, the mall and its mines, fishing at the Lakefront, and the first tier of tasks. That maps onto the tier 1 block on the task list — the Old Woods and catacombs chains sit past it.
Demo patch history before launch

| September 1, 2026 | Hotfix | Fixed the player starting in the wrong area without character customization, and looping NPC dialogue. |
| September 1, 2026 | v0.11.17 | Large demo update, including localization for Chinese, Portuguese and other languages. |
| June 15, 2026 | v0.11.3 | Last-minute fixes before the game entered Steam Next Fest. |
Known demo issues players report
- Cows and goats becoming unmilkable after they mature.
- Dreamleaf not appearing in the Harvest Chamber for some saves.
- Occasional loss of the warp ability, and stuck task triggers.
These come from the Steam bug reports forum on the demo build. Whether each survives into the launch build is exactly the sort of thing this site re-checks after 2026-09-10.
